Popular yesteryear actress Reema Lagoo, popular for her performance in movies like "Hum Aapke Hain Koun" and "Kal Ho Na Ho", passed away due to a cardiac arrest in the wee hours today at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital here. Keep reading CRB Tech Reviews to know more.
Lagoo was admitted to the hospital late last night after she complained of chest pain. The hospital authority said they would issue a health report later in the day, after discussing with her family.
Lagoo's son-in-law Vinay Waikul told PTI that she was complaining of a chest pain so they took her to hospital around 1 AM. She passed away due to a cardiac arrest around 3.15 AM. She was quite well and had no health issues. Hence it is really shocking for that she is no more amidst them.
The actress also known as Bollywood's favourite onscreen mother, earned huge popularity for the versatility that she depicted during her career.
Born as Gurinder Bhadbhade in 1958, Lagoo’s acting prowess was first noticed while she was a student at the Huzurpaga HHCP High School in Pune. Her professional acting moved ahead as soon as she finished her high school.
Her mother Mandakini Bhadbhade was also an actress and popular for the drama Lekure Udand Jaahalee that was performed on the Marathi stage.
In late 1970s or early 1980s, she began acting in Hindi and Marathi films. Post her marriage to Marathi actor Vivek Lagoo, she took the name Reema Lagoo.
Lagoo has worked with the big names from the industry and mostly was seen in supporting roles. She began with television serials and earned huge applause with film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) where she played Juhi's mother.
She played a controversial role in Aruna Raje's Rihaee (1988).
Later, she acted in popular film like Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) as Salman Khan's mother and then in Saajan (1991), which was a blockbuster at the box office.
Lagoo appeared in Marathi and Hindi movies, besides doing a number of TV shows. She is survived by daughter Mrunmayee, who is also a theatre and film actress and theatre director.
The senior actress also did notable work in TV for popular shows like 'Tu Tu Main Main' and 'Shriman Shrimati'.
Her acting career spanned about four decades and she was last seen in the TV show "Naamkaran", which came air on Star Plus.
