So you can conclude that Naam is getting a sequel with Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt!
Franchise is the new buzzword in Bollywood that whether it is warranted or not, people feel obliged to take things forward. Although we are pretty psyched about Judwaa 2 since it will have Varun Dhawan in the lead role and Salman Khan in a cameo, we don’t know what to and why to make of a Naam sequel. Yes, Mahesh Bhatt’s 1986 movie might have a continuation with Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt in the lead. And try to guess what will Dutt would play.
Yes, if the reports are to be believed, Sanjay Dutt has even given his nod to the venture and for his role in it. The actor apparently met up with Mahesh Bhatt recently and spoke about it. But from what we could gather from Pooja Bhatt’s Instagram post, she was looking forward to a Sadak sequel. Her post had a thoughtful Sanjay Dutt looking at a trophy of Sadak which had a Golden Jubilee written on it. You can check out the post in instagram account.
Talking about Naam, Mahesh Bhatt told TOI previously that, even though it was a two-hero project, Rajendra Kumar knew that the viewer’s sympathies will eventually swing from Kumar Gaurav’s character Ravi to Sanju’s bad boy Vicky. It was also Salim Khan’s film in a way that he didn’t have his partner Javed Akhtar with him as split by then. Talking about Salim Khan, Bhatt had said that he added box-office sparks to his story of two half brothers and helped it turn into a blockbuster. He continues to state that Naam was his first golden jubilee. About Sanjay Dutt, Mahesh saab said that he never saw that kind of focus in Sanju again. With his stunning performance, Sanju baba touched people’s heart. And they became a lifelong friend and years later, on the occasion of his confinement to the Yerwada Jail, Mahesh remembers sitting with him and feeling as helpless as Kumar Gaurav’s character in Naam because there was so little that he could do for Sanjay Dutt.
We conclude now.
