ISRO successfully launched 104 satellites

ISRO successfully launched 104 satellites in one go from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, on Wednesday morning. Yes, that's the century we were talking about...

Let's first take a look at the sequence of events that happened at the space center....

10:25am:
Satellite director Sadananda Rao said solar based panels of the Cartosat-2 satellite were conveyed, and the war room in Bengaluru has taken control of it.

10:13am: President Pranab Mukherjee congratulates ISRO on its accomplishment of setting another record of most satellites launched into space in one go.

10:10am: First mission this year has been a success; preparing for future missions, including PSLV and GSLV, expresses ISRO.
10:05am: Countdown time was the most brief dispatch time amongst all the PSLV missions. This was the most convoluted space mission, says ISRO.

10:04am: ISRO chairman AS Kiran Kumar says that Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated.

10:03am:
“This was a very enjoyable mission. I congratulate the team. We faced many challenges before we accomplished this mission,” Kumar states.

9:57am:
Close to thirty minutes since lift off; flight status as expected.

Plus 22 minutes post lift off; everything is normal until this point.

9:48am: Remaining nano satellites being isolated from launch vehicle in twos.

9:47am: Cartosat 2 and India's nano satellites isolated from dispatch vehicle.

9:46am: Engines turned off; PSLV touches orbit.

9:41am:
PSLV has crossed around 4180 km since it has been propelled.
9:39am: Satellite keeps on picking up elevation; execution so far normal, showing a fruitful launch.

9:36am: Eight minutes since take off; PSLV-C37/Cartosat2 Series satellite in fourth stage. Satellite engines turned on.

9:33am: Second phase of launch accomplished with success; third stage starts.

9:32am: Scientists at ISRO claim launch going according to plan until this point.

9:31am: Heat shields isolated from the PSLV; second stage passes as expected.

9:30am: Scientists affirm first phase of lift off finished.

9:28am: PSLV takes off at Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota.

Significance:

The successful launch helped set another record for the most number of satellites – 104 – to be propelled at one go. It puts a wide edge amongst it and the following record holder, the Russian Space Agency that propelled 37 satellites in 2014.

Prior, the US space agency Nasa propelled 29, while ISRO effectively propelled 20 satellites in one go in June 2015.

This was ISRO's very first space mission for the year 2017, and the most confounded mission it has ever done. PM Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee complimented the space organization for the noteworthy occasion that altogether lifts India's space program.

The space agency started the countdown for the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV's) 39th flight on Tuesday after the Mission Readiness Review advisory group and Launch Authorisation Board gave its go ahead for the lift off, ISRO said.
